Experience From All Sides
Defense Attorney, Prosecutor and Judge
Brian Starns started defending residents of The Gorge in 1998. He received his undergraduate degrees in English and Psychology at the University of Nebraska, where he served as a debate coach and Moot Court Judge. During law school, he worked as a Deputy District Attorney, which immersed him in criminal law, with an emphasis on trial procedure. Since 1998, he has represented thousands of clients in The Gorge and throughout Oregon. In 2013, Brian continued to expand his experience as a judge, when he became a Municipal Court Judge for the cities of Tualatin and Sherwood.
Brian belongs to the Oregon State Bar, Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, as well as the Mid-Columbia Bar Association. He has successfully defended clients against all levels of accusations, from DUIIs and misdemeanors to serious felonies, including jury acquittals of Measure 11 charges. His success stories have twice been featured in the Oregon Criminal Defense Attorney’s publication “The Bulletin.”
Since 1998, Brian Starns has amassed more in-court criminal defense time in The Gorge than anyone else. When not representing The Gorge, Brian enjoys book collecting, painting, and spending time with his wife, son, 3 cats and a dog (and a lint roller).
